OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME :
The Data Manager will provide technical support to WHO EPI Staff based at zonal as well as state level in Nigeria. He/She will collaborate closely with WHO Staff responsible for IDSR activities as well as International Health Regulations. He/She will also collaborate very closely with Laboratory Staff from laboratories supporting surveillance of EPI Target diseases (Polio national laboratories, Measles national laboratories, Paediatric Bacterial Meningitis Laboratories,,,) This position reports directly to the Team Leader, EPI, and liaises with other EPI sub-units including Monitoring & Evaluation, EPI Operations and EPI Administration

Description of duties:
Under the overall supervision of the WHO Country Representative, the Data Manager work closely together with other members of the Monitoring and Evaluation sub-unit within the WHO-Nigeria EPI Team.

1. Lead a team of national data managers and clerks within WHO-Nigeria in managing immunization programme data at national and zonal level;

2. Develop, maintain and updated appropriate software for all immunization programme data including routine immunization data, supplemental immunization data, new vaccine introduction data, immunization safety data as well as EPI target disease surveillance data;

3. To support capacity building activities of national authorities aimed at collection of quality immunization programme data, analysis and use of immunization programme data and maintaining electronic archives and databases;

4. Support the maintenance of electronic Information Computing Equipment;

5. Support ongoing and rigorous process of analysis and use of immunization programme data for preparation of information required re-programming, advocacy as well as resource mobilization;

6. Perform other activities as required by WHO Representative.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Essential: University Degree in Information Technology or equivalent training in the provision of IT.

Desirable: Training in public health data collection and management.



Skills:
- Willing and able to travel extensively in Nigeria;
- The candidate must possess good communication skills.
- Computer software program proficiency including MS Word, Excel, and Power Point.
Experience:
Essential: Some years experience in epidemiological data management as well as Primary Health Care/Immunization Programmes software development and use.

Desirable: Working with WHO would be an asset.

Languages:
Fluency in English or French with a good working knowledge of the other language.

Annual salary: (Net of tax)
US$ 55259 at single rate
US$ 59200 with primary dependants
Post Adjustment: 59.9 % of the above figure(s). This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
