The candidates will play leading roles in policy-oriented research that helps to design/formulate monetary policy.Reports to the Assistant Director.
Job Responsibilities
  • Conduct in-depth studies on monetary and financial sector policies, including macroeconomic impact analysis.
  • Conceptualize and implement the Bank’s monetary and financial policies.
  • Participate in production processes of the secretariat of Monetary Policy Committee (MPC).
  • Participate in the preparation of the MPC Economic Report.
  • Participate in Review Teams that will promptly identify weakness/problems in current practices and propose appropriate corrective policies.
  • Display expertise in Forecasting and Scenario Analysis.
  • Achieve effective coordination between Monetary and Fiscal Policy.
  • Monitor the Implementation of Monetary Policy actions.
  • Produce research papers to be published in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Present research findings in CBN as well as external seminars.
  • Attend to ad-hoc assignments from the Director, MPD/Research/statistics, on monetary policy and related issues.
  • Interface with Multilateral and Bilateral Organizations, such as the IMF, World Bank, WAMI, ECOWAS etc.
Qualification and Experience:
  • A Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Economics, Statistics or Finance and a proven ability to perform the tasks required by the position.
  • 9 years cognate experience in economic and policy research, of which 5 years should be at middle/senior management level (for the Principal Economist Positions).
  • Records of outstanding publication in Economics, Statistics, Finance and related disciplines with a minimum of 8 research papers, out of which at least 4 must have been published in reputable journals (for Principal Economists) and 6 papers out of which at least 3 must have been published in reputable journal (for Senior Economists).
  • Membership of the Nigerian Economic Society and/or other similar professional bodies.

The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) is a parastatal of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources established by Decree 25 of 1973 dedicated for the purpose of development, promotion and implementation of petroleum technology and manpower development through research and training of Nigerians as graduates, professionals, technicians and craftsmen in the fields of engineering, geology, geosciences, management, economics and relevant fields in the petroleum and solid minerals industry in Nigeria or abroad. PTDF Undergratduate / Postgraduate Scholarship Programme 2012 / 2013

To ensure a steadfast implementation of this mandate, PTDF is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for the MSc and PhD as well as Undergraduate Scholarships, under the 2012/2013 PTDF Scholarship Scheme. Scholarships will be awarded for studies in areas listed below, in the United Kingdom, France and upgraded Universities in Nigeria for the 2012/2013 session. However, the Undergraduate level will be awarded for studies in Nigeria only.

Application Forms can be accessed online using an ATM card or through purchase of a scratch card from designated major branches of First Bank of Nigeria Plc in all the States and FCT, upon payment of a NON-REFUNDABLE sum of N1,000 (One Thousand Naira Only). Instructions on how to access the form online is clearly stated on the backside of the cards.

PTDF however wishes to inform applicants that the Overseas Scholarship Scheme was instituted as a short term measure to address identified skills gaps, pending the outcome of the various capacity building efforts being made to enable our domestic universities effectively handle the onerous task of grooming qualitative professionals in the oil and gas related disciplines. With the numerous upgrade programmes executed by the Fund in some Federal Universities in Nigeria, emphasis has shifted to training Nigerians in-country. BASIC REQUIREMENTS

A.) UNDER GRADUATE (Nigeria Only)
  • Possession of 5 credits in WAEC/SSCE/NECO including English Language and Mathematics
  • Must have concluded the 1st year of their study in any of the PTDF upgraded Federal Universities listed above.
  • Must have scored a minimum CGPA of 3.0 on scale of 5 or 4.5 on a scale of 7 in their 1st Year.
  • Must scan and attach a copy of their admission letter
  • Students admitted into the University through Direct Entry i.e. 200 level must have either of the following:
  • - Minimum of Upper Credit at the Diploma level
  • - Minimum of 10 points in interim Joint Matriculation Board (I.J.M.B) examination.
  • - Minimum of 8 points at the Advanced Level General Certificate of Education (G.C.E).

B.) MSc (Nigeria and Overseas)
  • A minimum of Second Class Upper (2.1) in an Oil and Gas related field OR a 2.2 with oil and gas industry experience
  • National Youth Service (NYSC) certificate
  • Applicants must be computer literate
  • Possession of O/level with Credit in English Language in WAEC/SSCE (C6) or NECO (C4);
  • Applicants must not be above 30 years of age
  • Applicants without credit in English language as in (4) above but possess any of the following may apply

  • Experience in auto dealers or large fleet operators on truck

7.) Auto Mechanic (Petrol)

Required Qualification and Experience

  • Trade test Certificate Diploma
  • Experience in auto dealership on ccars with MPFI system

8.) Auto Electrician (Diesel)

Required Qualification and Experience

  • Trade test Certificate Diploma
  • Experience in auto dealers or large fleet operators on truck

9.) Auto Electrician (Petrol)

Required Qualification and Experience

  • Trade test Certificate Diploma
  • Experience in auto dealers or large fleet operators on truck

10.) Key Accounts Officers

Required Qualification, Experience and Responsibilities

  • Graduates in any faculty.
  • Tech background will give preference.
  • Young and energetic.
  • Smart males / females with experience in key accounting holding

General Requirements
  • Young and energetic(not more than 35 years of age).
  • A good degree/diploma in Engineering.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, confident, outgoing, sociable character.
  • Experience in sales of automobiles would be a definite 1 advantage.
  • Valid driving license
  • Flexible approach to working hours to meet deadlines.
  • A person without experience in Auto industry but lengthy experience in customer care and meeting other criteria can be considered for applicant (I) only.
  • A good degree/diploma in any faculty for applicant (3&10)
